ELVIAL recently welcomed students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Texas at Austin to its facilities as part of the university’s international internship program, launching a new and highly significant collaboration that strengthens the connection between academic knowledge and modern industry.

The University of Texas at Austin is recognized among the world’s leading institutions in the field of Engineering. The program is conducted in collaboration with the Cockrell School of Engineering, one of the most prestigious engineering schools in the United States, renowned for its strong tradition in research, technological innovation, and experiential learning.

This year’s collaboration marks the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between the two organizations, as students undertake a structured internship at ELVIAL’s facilities, gaining valuable professional experience through direct exposure to a modern industrial environment operating to international standards.

The program commenced with an Orientation Day at the company’s headquarters, during which students had the opportunity to learn about ELVIAL’s history, business activities, international presence, and corporate values. The presentation on behalf of the company’s management was delivered by Mr. Nikos Kyriakou, Technical Manager, Mr. Stefanos Sficas, Production Director, and Ms. Athina Nousiopoulou, Corporate Communications & ESG Officer.

The orientation was followed by a guided tour of ELVIAL’s production facilities, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the operations of a modern, vertically integrated aluminum industry. Students were introduced to the various stages of the production process, the technologies employed, and the practices that support quality, innovation, and sustainable development.
During their two-month placement at ELVIAL, the students will have the opportunity to engage with different aspects of industrial operations, gain hands-on experience in real working conditions, and become familiar with modern manufacturing processes, engineering applications, and technologies shaping the future of industry.

At the same time, they will gain exposure to research and development (R&D), innovation, and digital transformation practices, acquiring valuable knowledge and skills that will support their academic and professional development.
